ISC Offset Oval Keylock Karabiner

The KL321 Offset Oval Keylock Karabiner merges the characteristics of an Oval with those of a ‘D’ shape Karabiner. Traditional Ovals are unable to attain high breaking loads due to their symmetrical design, which distributes the load evenly between the spine and the gate. Since the gate is the weakest part of any Karabiner, designers strive to direct the load toward the spine whenever possible. This is the reason ‘D’ shape Karabiners generally provide the highest breaking loads.

Nonetheless, in various sectors like Rope Access and Rope Rescue, the Oval shape remains highly favoured. This led to the creation of the hybrid KL321 Offset Oval.

ISC Wales has now perfected the cold forging process, enabling them to incorporate the popular Keylock style (anti-snag) noses on several Karabiners in their lineup, including the KL321 Offset Oval.
